Natural Remedies For Cellulite

By Sayedero Enytan @fashionengineer

Cellulite is a problem experienced by many women. Most sources believe that this unsightly, dimpled appearance is brought on by the fat content in a person's body, as well as problems in the connective tissue.

Although they haven't been proved yet, diet, hormones, genetics and hormones are also thought to play a role in the development of cellulite, a condition that is experienced by both slim and overweight women.

Even though there are countless laboratory-manufactured medications for the treatment of cellulite, there are many natural remedies for treating cellulite too, an option that is preferred by those who are against consuming other chemical-laden products. These natural remedies include:

Incorporating gelatin in the diet

According to information supplied by the Weston A. Price Foundation and Nourishing Traditions, there are several benefits to consuming gelatin, including that it:

- promotes hair, nail and skin growth

- is good for joints and their recovery after injury/surgery

- helps to tighten skin

- might improve digestion

- is believed to help in reducing cellulite

- is a good source of dietary collagen

- is a source of protein that can help in the building of muscles

Myofascial massage

Natural Remedies For Cellulite

One theory about cellulite is that it forms a layer of connective tissue under the skin that contains fat cells. This layer, known as superficial fascia, is fibrous and because of inactivity, improper exercise and injuries, scar tissue can develop and contribute to the rippled or bunched-up look on the skin. Myofascial massage, which smooths the layer of connective tissue, is performed by some therapists. Those who are not able to have regular massage can use a deep tissue Fascia Blaster to achieve the same effect.

Coffee scrub

Coffee scrubs can help a lot in improving cellulite by stimulating the blood and lymph flow as it massages and exfoliates the skin. The caffeine in the coffee also helps to tighten the skin. Many women from all over the world choose this option to combat cellulite.

To use this method as a treatment for cellulite, you will need:

¼ Cup of coffee grounds

3 Tablespoons sugar

2 to 3 Tablespoons of melted coconut oil

Mix all the ingredients together to form a paste and store in a glass jar. Do note, however, that if you use unrefined coconut oil, the mixture will harden.

Using firm pressure, massage the paste into the skin for a few minutes and then rinse. Do this two to three times a week and you should notice results within a fortnight.

Dry brushing

Natural Remedies For Cellulite

Even though there is no scientific evidence that dry brushing works, there are many who do support it as an effective treatment for cellulite. It also feels great, opens the pores on the skin and helps to stimulate lymph and blood flow in the body.

Dry brushing should be done once or twice daily to achieve the full benefits. The skin, as well as the brush, should be dry, so the best time would be in the shower just before turning on the water.

The type of brush to use for the treatment of cellulite is important. Bristles should be natural and vegetable-based instead of synthetic. They should be reasonably stiff but not so hard that they scratch and irritate the skin. The handle of the brush should be extendable to get to those hard-to-reach areas.

Brushing should be done in long sweeping motions rather than back and forth or circular movements. Starting at the feet and then moving to all sides of the legs, brush upwards towards the heart. Next would be the arms from the wrist, working upwards towards the chest. Counterclockwise movements should be used when brushing the stomach area.

Brushing should be done firmly to invigorate and stimulate the skin, but not so hard that the skin becomes red and irritated.

Apart from being inexpensive cellulite treatments, these natural remedies will improve the general health of the skin, leaving it smooth and glowing, with an attractive, well-toned appearance.
