The Organization of the North Atlantic Agreement (NATO), a military alliance of several Western countries, said there were credible reports, Russian forces targeted civilians in Ukraine and urged the Kremlin to ensure the war would not spread outside.

Secretary General of NATO Jens Stoltenberg said the Russian invasion to Ukraine caused terrible suffering and the impact of humanity destroyed.

“We have the responsibility to ensure conflicts do not increase and spread outwards of Ukraine,” said Stoltenberg, added, “We will protect and maintain every inch of all allied areas.”

His statement came for hours after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelskyy said he no longer pressed NATO membership for his country, a complicated problem which was one of Russian’s main reasons to attack his pro-West neighbor.

“I have cooled this question for a long time after we understood that … NATO was not ready to accept Ukraine,” Zelskyy said in an interview.

“The alliance is afraid of controversial things, and confrontation with Russia,” the President added.

Meanwhile, Russian forces intensified their bombings in the capital of Ukraine Kyiv, said the US. The population in the northeastern city of Sumy fled west in the bus, train and their own vehicle, took advantage of the humanitarian corridor.
