Cabinet Spokesman Mass Media Minister Dr. Bandula Gunawardane yesterday stressed the importance of forming a National Consensus Government to overcome the crisis situation currently prevailing in the country.
Speaking at the weekly Cabinet media briefing at the Government Information Department, Minister Gunawardane said that the by appointing United National Party Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe as the President, Mahajana Eksath Peramuna Leader Dinesh Gunawardane as the Prime Minister initial measures have already been made to form a government of consensus and discussions are currently going on to decide the involvement of other political parties.
He further said that the discussions with regard to the formation of the government of consensus are mainly conducted under the leadership of President Ranil Wickremesinghe.
