Nashville

Nashville In the midst of a Presidential Primary, the lives of no less than two dozen disparate people gather in Music City to organize, attend and perform at a musical rally in Robert Altman’s satirical, unconventional pastiche of American life. Nashville is impeccably edited and a complete and often heartbreaking knockout once you get in sync with its uncommon tempo. The film is filled with many memorable performances with Lily Tomlin, Keith Carradine, Karen Black, and Henry Gibson rushing to mind first, and there is the added joy of watching most of the cast sing songs they generally composed themselves. *** 1/2 out of ****
