The mystery of Ryhope Wood, Britain's last fragment of primeval forest, consumed George Huxley's entire, & long, life. Now, after his death, his sons have taken up his work. But what they discover is beyond what they could have expected. For the Wood is a realm where myths gain flesh & blood, tapping primal fears & desires subdued through the millennia. A realm where love & beauty haunt your dreams & may drive you insane.
Mythago Wood won the World Fantasy Award on its first publication in 1984, securing Robert Holdstock's reputation as one of the major fantasy writers of our time.

This is my second time reading this book. I read a hardback copy for Popsugar Reading Challenge 2015.
I plan to read the entire Mythago Wood series, however, due to a pile of ARC's to get through I will be taking a small break before I start the second book.
I absolutely adored this book, even more than my first read-through.
This may be the best fantasy novel ever written. The scope alone is almost mind-boggling. A massive primitive wood populated with creatures of myth, magic and imagination? Who could resist such a concept?
The world building in Mythago Wood is fantastic, I don't think I've read a fantasy novel where the author put so much effort into creating a world and making it so real. There are a lot of characters in the book and every one of them is unique and different.
Mythago Wood is an astonishing feat. I cannot wait to read the whole series.
