Plot: J, a veteran CIA agent, reunites with his protégé Sophie, in order to prevent a catastrophic nuclear scheme aimed at the Vatican, which disrupts a high school choir trip to Italy.

Story: My Spy: The Eternal City starts when JJ (Bautista) has settled into family life and CIA analysis. He has been left with Sophie (Coleman) who he has been preparing for agency life. However, when Sophie’s choir gets selected for a school trip, they head to Italy. Meanwhile, JJ’s former partner goes missing during her mission.
Sophie wants to have fun on their trip with her friends and crush Ryan (Barratt). However, it means clashing with JJ who isn’t prepared to let her get into trouble. Even though they clash, they must put their differences aside to save their friends who have become targeted by a terrorist group. It forces JJ back into the field to save the day.
Verdict on My Spy: The Eternal City
My Spy: The Eternal City is an action comedy following JJ being forced back into the field to save the world and most importantly keep Sophie safe. It follows them in Italy as they face off against an old enemy who has returned for a new motivation, all while supervising a school trip.
This movie brings back the sharp chemistry between Dave Bautista and Chloe Coleman on a new adventure, dealing with new problems, growing up. It has plenty of rebellious teenage behavior with the overprotected father figure trying to control her. This side of the story gets the laughs, while most of the other comedic attempts miss most of the time. As for the action we get great sequences when needed, with the taser fight being the highlight of them all. It might not have the same magic the original had but Chloe Coleman rises to the occasion to be a potential new young action star.
