My Purchases, On Sale

By Dieworkwear @dieworkwear

End-of-the-season sales have come a bit early. Here are a few for your consideration, along with some suggestions based off of what I purchased for myself this season.

  • Club Monaco, 40% off with the code SAVE40: I picked up a few of these v-neck sweaters (now $35) not too long ago, and think they’re a pretty good value. Not as nice as John Smedley’s, which I prefer, but also not nearly as expensive.
  • Nitty Gritty, storewide sale: One of my favorite online stores, carrying one of my favorite brands of knitwear. I guarantee you there’s no better cabled Aran in the world than this one. I bought one in navy and one in cream.
  • Brooks Brothers, storewide sale with an extra 15% off if you purchase by the 26th: I’ve been wanting these suede tie loafers for a while, and finally just bought a pair last night. They also come in calf, if you prefer. Also on sale are these shell cordovan boots, which I bought many years ago and still consider to be some of my best shoes (they’re the ones pictured here).
  • Ralph Lauren, up to 65% off retail prices: I went out to dinner with a few StyleForum members a month ago, and one of the people in our party was wearing an olive checked Rubinacci jacket, light blue Anna Matuozzo shirt, and a burgundy pocket square with small medallions printed on it. It looked so nice that when I came across a similar ancient madder piece from Ralph Lauren a week later, I picked it up. You can see it laid out in this photograph I took for Put This On. Also new in my closet is this cable knit mockneck sweater, which I’ve been wearing with dark brown corduroys.
  • Neighbor, second markdowns and 20% off on the 26th with the code ONEDAY: Mackintosh’s Waverly is my favorite quilted jacket. It’s a bit more handsome, I think, than the ubiquitous Barbour Liddesdale. If you wait till tomorrow, you’ll see further markdowns on their site. Note, the discount code is good for one day only.
  • Yoox, 90% off: This mockneck cardigan is now a hundred dollars less than when I first wrote about it. I swapped out the buttons for a darker horn and have been wearing it casually whenever I don’t want to put on a sport coat.
