Plot: South America, 1960. A lonely and grumpy Holocaust survivor convinces himself that his new neighbor is none other than Adolf Hitler. Not being taken seriously, he starts an independent investigation to prove his claim, but when the evidence still appears to be inconclusive, Polsky is forced to engage in a relationship with the enemy in order to obtain irrefutable proof.

Story: My Neighbour Adolf starts as Polish holocaust survivor Mr Polsky (Hayman) has lived a quiet life in South America. He has a routine and a beloved rose bush in his garden. When he gets a new neighbor Mr Herzog (Kier), it doesn’t take long before the pair clash.
Mr Polsky believes that Mr Herzog is Adolf Hitler and sets out on a journey to discover the truth. Only as Mr Polsky starts learning more about his neighbour, he finds himself creating a new friendship with Mr Herzog.
Verdict on My Neighbour Adolf
Characters
Mr Polsky is a holocaust survivor, he restarted his life in South America. His routine sees him tending to a rose bush and keeping to himself for the most part. He starts to question the true identity of his new neighbour, as he believes that it is Adolf Hitler. Mr Polsky turns into an amateur detective to find the evidence, despite a new bond between the two.
Mr Herzog is the new neighbor to Mr Polsky, he wants to keep to himself too but finds himself being pestered by Mr Polsky’s investigation. He often uses his lawyer to communicate, until he starts getting closer to Mr Polsky.
Performances
David Hayman and Udo Kier are both fantastic in the movie. They both show two people that have been through a lot and feel like they want more answers to things that have gone wrong in their lives.
Story
The story follows a man that believes his new neighbor is actually Adolf Hitler. He wants him to answer for the crimes he committed during World War II and sets out to find the truth.
This is a very interesting story and one that plays into the rumours that circled for years about Hitler surviving and moving to South America. It shows how people will have been through horrendous conditions during World War II and still struggle with what they went through. Everything is played out in a lighter mood, with the comedy coming into play during the investigation.

Final Thoughts – My Neighbour Adolf is a charming comedy-drama with wonderful performances from David Hayman and Udo Kier.
