I’ve always been a big fan of chocolate ice cream but never found the one I that I’ve been dreaming of in Lebanon. The reason is simple: most commercial chocolate ice creams (even Haagen Dazs) is far too milky and far too sweet for my taste. Like my bars of good chocolate, I like my chocolate ice cream dark and strong.
For lovers of chocolate ice cream, this is the final word. This dark chocolate ice cream is deeper and richer than any ice cream you’ve ever had.
On the Jounieh highway, I spotted an ice-cream parlor located just a few meters away from Le Cremier, a main competitor. Gelato Show might look childish or too commercial for some of you but believe me, what is inside is far from being an average place. Gelato Show is the best among the affordable and commercial ice-creams parlors in Lebanon.
This place has it all:
- Juices and Cocktails
- Crepes
- Ice cream cones
- Salads and Paninis
- Imported ice cream cakes
- Ice cream sticks
- Ice cream balls dipped in chocolate
- A large choice of Lebanese sweets
- Cakes
I like at Gelato Show:
In front of the door, you are welcomed with a long fridge hosting more than 50 different bowls of rich and colorful ice cream flavors. If you crave it, they have it: “Tutte les colores del mondo”
Since I am only a fan of chocolate ice cream, I was searching for the darkest and purest. My eyes automatically spotted the darker part of fridge. And for the first time in Lebanon, I laid eyes on the darker chocolate ice creams, I came across the darkest ever seen. Truly dark. You have to see it to believe it. It was a premiere for me to see an ice cream as dark as this one. The difference is obvious between the brownish color of the milk chocolate ice cream and my favorite that’s simply black.
Gelato Show uses powder cocoa mixed with water, just a hint of milk and that is it. The result: 90% chocolate ice-cream never before seen in Lebanon. Every bite is unique, every bite is so pure it makes you want to close you eyes and appreciate the deep fine aromas twirling around your tongue.
Choose between pure chocolate or orange chocolate and enjoy them in a cone of cup. Every scoop – and I don’t mean just any scoop – its actually a huge generous chuck of ice cream – and indulge in the best ice cream I have personally ever had. The best part is that its cheap.
A huge and generous scoop of dark chocolate is for $1 only. The above cup contains 4 scoops for only $4. At other places, $4 will buy you less ice cream.
You have to try it! Believe me it’s worth it.
