One of my favorite beauty tips is replacing glasses with contact lenses. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t have anything against glasses. In fact, I think women who wear glasses can look incredibly fashionable and sexy. But, in my opinion, glasses take away from one of my most important features – my eyes. I love to make my eyes pop and stand out because I think eyes are amazingly beautiful, and contacts do it better than glasses. But, before you start buying a year’s supply, there are a couple of details that you need to know first. I didn’t have a clue, and it would have made my life much easier if I had been aware.
How Do You Know You Need Contacts?
The fact that you wear glasses is a pretty good sign! Still, that doesn’t mean that you should order your contact lenses now and start your prescription. I would recommend going to the opticians and having your eyes checked. The optician will tell you whether your eyes are fit for contact lenses or whether you should stay with glasses. Unfortunately, some people are not made for contact lenses.
Right Fit
Next, I would look at the fit and see which one is best. There are two main types of fit: hard and soft. There are pros and cons to both types, so it is down to your digression. Try both and see which ones suit your eyes. You are looking for comfort and, above all, improved vision. With hard lenses, they last for a very long time, but you can only wear them for a short period due to the material. They are Perspex and don’t let oxygen pass through to the eye. Soft lenses are a flexible plastic and are full of water. You can wear them for a long time or a short time depending on which type you choose.
Duration
Some people prefer lenses that last for months while others like to swap them every morning. The longer lasting lenses can strain the eyes a little more, but the main difference is the cleaning routine. Disposable lenses come in packaging that is full of sterile liquid. In basic terms, you don’t have to spend ages cleaning them and washing them out before you put them in your eyes. And, you have to take lenses out at night, so there isn’t too much difference. Avoid Complications
The battle is not over. In fact, it is only beginning. When you have your contact lenses of choice, you need to maintain them properly to avoid complications. Dirty lenses can lead to infections and problems with your eyes, which you want to avoid at all costs. Make sure your lenses are thoroughly clean before you put them in, and make sure they are all the way in your eyes.
