Hello Friends! I've been SO EXCITED to share this post with you for so many reasons! First, I'm making an effort to be more conscientious about my shopping. Ahem... Have you seen my "Sustainable Shopping" Page? Second, it's exciting when I do FIND great brands that I want to share especially with jeans since they are a wardrobe staple! Third, I have an easy DIY for Raw Hem Jeans. This type of hem has been seen everywhere lately and saves me a trip to the tailor since MOST of my pants need hemming being a 5'4″ gal!

When I find jeans that fit me in length (aka inseam 26″), then it's a MAJOR HALLELUJAH!!! No hemming and I can show off any shoes (sandals, sneakers, or heels) and GO! When I find a jean that fits AND it's ethically made, then it's like unicorn tears! LOL!

Without further ado, here are my top five fave sustainable denim! All of these brands are either sustainably manufactured or ethically produced.

These are the perfect pair of everyday jeans! They require NO hemming with a 26.5″ inseam and are just good ol' jeans without

any rips or distressing. I chose the light blue wash for the Summer in my normal size 26, and they run TTS with just a tad of stretch (98% cotton, 2% elastane).

After wearing them for multiple days in a row (yes I do that!), they stretched slightly but not to where I needed to wear a belt or wash them - just could breathe a little looser!

REFORMATION HIGH & SKINNY JEANS

These are fabulous high waisted jeans (11″ front rise) with some slight distressing and a kneehole. The distressing isn't over the top so it's "wearable" for most. They feel really soft since it's a cotton, Tencel Lyocell, spandex mix. The leg opening is a little big so I would consider this a "slim" jean vs a skinny jean since they don't hug my ankles.

Because of the longer 30″ inseam, I did my own raw edge hem which I show you below!

ABLE HIGH RISE LORENA WASH JEANS

Do y'all remember me introducing ABLE to y'all last year in THIS POST?! These are my favorite dark wash high rise jeans with a lot of stretch (92% cotton, 6% poly, 2% elastane) and double kneeholes. They are also a slim jean, and I did have to cut my own hem on these jeans. I tried this method for the raw hem last year.

These are definitely a winter staple. P.S. Since they are a darker wash, they can stain the top of some of your booties until you've washed it enough times. I noticed that happened with some of my lighter suede boots.

REFORMATION JAGGER JEAN

I bought these black jeans on a whim during the Reformation Sale and I'm so glad I did! They are super soft and stretchy (77.5% Modal, 14% Cotton, 6% Polyester, 2.5% Elastane) and have a short inseam (25.6″) with an asymmetrical hem, almost like a handkerchief hem. I've only worn these jeans twice so I can't tell you about how they keep their shape, but I'm excited about wearing these with booties for Fall!

REFORMATION MID CROP FLARE JEANS

These were the first pair of jeans that I purchased from Reformation. They are rigid denim (100% cotton, no stretch) so you have to break them in. These are a button-fly mid rise (10.5″) jean with a 26″inseam. I did cut them shorter so be a cropped flare jean. I have a special place in my heart/closet for rigid denim since I grew up with Levi's jeans in the 90s.

Unfortunately, they no longer carry the mid-rise but have a high rise version now.

Here's the DIY Raw Edge Hem part that I learned from Kailey of Double Shot of Sass! I mentioned quick steps in a previous post but here is an easy and visual breakdown of the steps.

Do you have a FAVORITE brand or pair of jeans? Share it in the comments! And have you heard of these ethical and responsible brands?!

MATERIALS NEEDED:

First, grab a pair of jeans that are hemmed to your desired length for measurement. Second, fold both jeans in half and make sure hems and seams are even. Lay the hemmed jeans on top of the jeans that you are going to cut and have them line up at the inseam top (crotch).

Cut the jeans. I usually cut one leg at a time so it's not too bulky or hard for the scissors.

Wet the hems and then throw them in the dryer for 15 minutes. You'll have the perfectly frayed raw hem jeans in NO TIME!

FAVORITE SUSTAINABLE DENIM

Happy Wednesday Y'all! It's been pretty quiet here on the blog front since we had Labor Day and getting ready for school. Somehow, all of the craziness caught up with me and I'm loaded up on ibuprofen, antibiotics, and fluids. #aintnobodygottimeforthis
