New Year's Eve is around the corner. Every year my sister throws an amazing New Year's Eve bash where sequins are highly recommended. I wore this look last year; not sure yet what sparkly confection from the back of the closet I'll pull out this year but I'll be sure to share the outfit on Instagram. So I go whole hog with the glitz, but even for previous years where I counted down to the New Year on my couch in slippers I loved adding some sparkle to my look. Heck, I'll even don my gay apparel AND the glitter for Christmas!
Lipstick: L'Oreal La Lacque in Lacquerized | Faux Fur Stole: Sole Society | Snowflake Brooch: Amazon | Turtleneck: Nordstrom Collection (XL)
I can't recommend the Wet N Wild Color Icon Glitter Singles enough. I bought one last year and it's so fun and easy to use and CHEAP! The formula is creamy, like glitter was mixed with lip balm. You can tap it on with your finger over other eye shadows, but also tap it on cheekbones, décolleté, shoulders, and even in your hair. You control the amount of glitter, one tap adds a hint of sparkle, more taps lead you into disco ball territory.
This photo on Instagram shows a bit of the glitter effect from last New Year's Eve (and even raved about it on Instagram). There weren't any close-up beauty shots in this outfit post, but I used this same glitter over my smoky eye and along my cheekbones to give a bit of a Studio 54 vibe to the jumpsuit. Unlike many glitter products, this one doesn't flake off, doesn't scratch, and washes away easily. Did I mention it's cheap??
Wet N Wild's glitter singles come in a variety of colors. The silver and gold ones are sparkly enough that they can work even if the rest of your look is the other color of metal. I haven't tried the colored versions but I bet they're fun and could also be applied over lipstick for a festive lip. I've found them at Target and also bought on Amazon. Prime shipping means you'll have it in your mailbox before the clock strikes midnight!
