My Autumn Wishlist

By Winyeemichelle
There's no denying that we’re in the throes of autumn now. Crisp mornings full of fresh air play breakfast host to a day full of chill in the air and a beckoning need to slip a coat (or at least a light jacket!) on before you head out. Our heating is now on, although I’m yet to convince my Mama that I need it on for at least an hour in the day because contrary to popular belief, I work before home (nope, she still doesn’t believe me). And with that in mind, I set to work putting together an autumn wishlist…

The New Classics

If there’s one thing 2017 has taught me, it’s that you honestly don’t need a huge wardrobe. Back in 2011, I was the proud owner of two double wardrobes and a chest of drawers, full to the brim and housed in my then bedroom. Things are a little different these days as I’ve been moved to a different room which is half the size, has no wardrobe space and is shared half the week with my boyfriend. So the wardrobe situation is a little different. I’m into investing in new classics and getting a little more comfortable with my ‘look’ as opposed to buying into fast fashion every single payday.
This PLAY COMME des GARÇONS jumper is my newest object of desire. I go to sleep dreaming of this knit… The camel version with a white heart is the absolute dream and it’d look equally as perfect with a relaxed white jean and heels as it would with a midi skirt and trainers. Following the recent news that Gucci have banned the use of fur in their collections, I’m all over the idea of finally adding the Gucci Princeton loafers to my style kit. I think the discussion around leather is something I’ll be looking into in the future but you can’t beat the sheer quality of these oft-reached for loafers. I’m also ALL about this Manu Atelier crossbody bag right now: just look at it! Boxy, structured but soft, it just feels like the right addition to my bag collection.
These let hem jeans from Topshop have my name all over them. They’re a great alternative option to the Closed Denim or FRAME Denim ones (although I seriously couldn’t recommend FRAME jeans more - so comfy!) and the let-out hem will look so chic with a loafer or ankle boot. Finally in my coveted classics line-up is the Lauren shirt from Blanc + Eclare: just look at those ruffles. Ushered in cotton poplin, I am pretty much just ready to become Jessica Jung already.

Almost just for fun

It just wouldn’t be a Daisybutter wishlist without a few gratuitous inclusions, would it? Take this Weekday jumper for example: a fluffy rib knit in peachy pink. Is it cold enough for a fluffy knit? Probably not. But does the Joni simply need to join the sartorial ranks at Chez Chai? Probably yes. I also can’t stop thinking about the BYREDO candle in Burning Rose (CF). FYI, this was the scent at Glossier’s London pop-up over the summer which, I mean, if that isn’t reason enough to snap it up, I don’t know what is. And what a perfect segue into my final autumn wishlist item: Glossier’s Generation G in Zip (CF). I picked up their Cake shade last week and it’s barely left my lips since. Cake is a beautiful nude shade, a true my-lips-but-better whilst the chill plays havoc on my face, whilst Zip is a sheer red, totally apt for this season too.
