Favorite Hostels in Toronto: Toronto is the Canadian version of New York. It is a diverse and multicultural city with a vibrant nightlife, and amazing food scene, and tons of fun things to see and do, no matter what season you visit.
Although it may lack the historic charm of Montreal or the natural beauty of Vancouver, Toronto is a massive metropolis that will keep you entertained.

Budget hotels are in a bad location and Airbnb prices are increasing every year. Fortunately, the city has a few inexpensive hostels that will help you save money - money you can spend to enjoy the city and all it has to offer!
That said, there are many things to consider when choosing a hostel. The top four when choosing the best Toronto hostel are:
- Location - Toronto is huge and it can take a while to get around. Choose a place at the heart of the sites and the nightlife you want to see. All hostels listed here are located in central locations.
- Price - In Toronto, you really get what you pay for, so if you choose a really inexpensive hotel, you will probably get a small, cramped hostel that does not offer great service.
- Approvals - Each hostel in town offers free Wi-Fi, and most have free breakfast, but if you want more than that, be sure to do your research to find the hostel that best suits your needs!
- Staff - All the hostels listed here have incredible staff! They are super friendly and knowledgeable. Even if you don't end up in one of the locations listed below, be sure to check the reviews to make sure you end up in a place where the staff are helpful and friendly! They can make or break an inn!

1. HI Hostel Toronto
HI hostels are always among my favorites because they really have what we travelers need. HI Toronto is located in a convenient central location close to everything you need (nightlife, shopping, restaurants, the CN Tower, the waterfront, etc.). Free breakfast is included, there are private safes for each guest, and they host many regular events. It is a fun hostel and very easy to meet people here as there is a bar on site which regularly hosts live music.

2. Two Peas Pod Hostel
This hostel has a lot to do. In addition to hosting events, they also operate a store and café, providing travelers with a full range of services to ensure their stay is not only fun but convenient. They have a super cool rooftop common area (you can see the CN tower) and they also have a mini-movie theater that hosts regular screenings. Their pod beds are super cool too!

3. The Only Backpacker's Inn
This is your standard youth hostel to relax. They have a bar (with more than 200 beers), a cafe, lots of common areas (including an outdoor terrace) and free breakfast. The staff are super friendly and it's located near the metro, so you can easily get around the city and explore. It is also one of the cheapest hostels in the city.

4. The Parkdale hostel
It is the most affordable hostel in town. There's no free breakfast (but the money you save makes up for that). There is a lot of common space as well as a common kitchen. It is not as central as the other hostels. It is also near Vegandale, a booming vegan area of the city.

***Toronto is a world class city. The hostels here are particularly social and fun, making it easy to meet people and have fun with other travelers. Just be sure to book your stay in advance as there aren't many hostels here - and they fill up quickly (especially during the busy summer months)!
