Music By John Williams (Disney Plus)- The GOAT Of Film Score Composition
Quick Take: A movie for film lovers, specifically those who really appreciate a great film score. John Williams is the greatest there has ever been. There are plenty of other composers that knock out work all the time that is perfection, and yet, Williams’s reach seems so unattainable. From Hans Zimmer, Danny Elfman, Michael Giacchino, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, and even the legendary Ennio Morricone, Williams has created so many iconic themes that how could he not be remembered for the remainder of cinema. This takes a look at many of those excellent works, and muses with Williams his thoughts on how they came to be. He discusses his life, the good and some bad, and it is a perfect celebration of the icon before his contemporaries are trying to form a requiem in his honor. Disney Plus is carrying this with audio description, and it exists. It is both a mix of a talking head film full of interviews, not just from Williams, but legendary filmmakers like Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, and Chris Columbus, and also a musical guide. Normally, we wouldn’t mind description on top of scores, but the whole point of this film is to appreciate those very scores. The audio description is appropriately sparse.
