Shrove Tuesday marks the last day before Lent, traditionally a period of abstinence, associated with clearing your cupboards of things like sugar, fat and eggs. It's known as Pancake Day because it represents a good opportunity to use up such ingredients. Easy peasy lemon squeezy.
If you fancy some delicious pancakes on Shrove Tuesday this year (February 9th), but you're worried about your batter being a soggy disaster, don't panic! Mrs. Crumble's Pancake Mix guarantees quick and eay results!
The people at Mrs Crimble's sent me some of their Home Bake Pancake Mix so that I could see for myself. Mrs Crimble's Home Bake Pancake Mix is gluten free, with each pack making approximately enough batter to give you 10 medium sized pancakes.
I made mine American style, which is more like a Scotch Pancake . . . but you can also make them British style which is more like a Crepe.
I followed the instructions which came with my pack, whisking in the eggs and the required liquid slowly to get a thick batter. They turned out perfectly and went down a real treat with a nice pat of butter and some agave syrup drizzled over top. You can download The Recipe on site. There are also recipes for Crepes with Chocolate Sauce, Tuna and Sweetcorn Pancakes, Ricotta Pancakes with Summer Fruit Coulis, and Pancakes with Salmon and Cream Cheese.
As you can see our pancakes turned out lovely. To be honest, I would be hard pressed to tell the difference between one of these and a normal pancake.
