March 2017

Thanks to fellow photographer Rob Edgcumbe, I was able to capture this new regional airliner arriving for a fuel stop in San Jose before heading North to the Moses Lake test facility in Washington State for certification testing.  First flown in November 2015, this is the first airliner designed and produced in Japan since the 1960s.  Mitsubishi Heavy Industries officially launched the Mitsubishi Regional Jet Program on March 28, 2008 with an order for 25 aircraft from All Nippon Airways.  In December 2015, Mitsubishi announced a one-year delay for the first delivery of the MRJ, to mid-2018, attributed to insufficient wing strength and the redesign of the landing gear.  Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation is a partnership between Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Toyota Motor Corporation.  Nikon D500 w/Tamron 150-600mm, processed with Aperture.
