Verdict: Haunting Done Right
Story: Judas Ghost starts with our team of ghost hunters Jerry (Delaney), Anna (Cudden), Mark (Merrells) and Ian (Perkins) who are making a training video for aspiring ghost hunters. Jerry is the charismatic host of the videos that explains all the different types of enemies they can come up against, but things take a turn when the expert team is struggling to understand the events going on in this hall they are working in.
Believing in his team’s ability Jerry wants to take on the spirit haunting the room even if it pushes the rest of the team to new limits. Stuck in this hall surrounded by darkness the team has to work on using their skills to make it out alive.
Judas Ghost might end up being a short film but more importantly it doesn’t waste time like many films in the genre do. We are in one room for the whole film as we watch the ghost finders deal with the haunting going on around the room. We don’t get many false jump scares and this ends up literally making you feel like you are in the room with them. Granted you would have like to have learnt more about the team for example just how well or long they have been working together but otherwise this is a good horror film.
Actor Review
Martin Delaney: Jerry is the leader of the Ghost Finder team who isn’t too interested in making the training video. When things start going wrong he steps up to control the situation. He doesn’t getting scared by the situation to make sure he doesn’t get it all out of control. Martin is strong in this leading role where he keeps calm through the situation.
Lucy Cudden: Anna is the psychic connection in the group that can sense the ghosts and where, what and why they are haunting certain location. She is the guide for Jerry as he battles against the unknown. Lucy does a good job in this role showing a realistic version of the member of the ghost hunting team.
Simon Merrells: Mark Vega is the cameraman on this training video, but he is also known in the world as being one of the best in the business. He has made a mistake in his last outing which has lead him to step back from the leader role against the unknown. Simon does a solid job in the role as the one filled with regret.
Alexander Perkins: Ian is the tech guy of the team, he does get spooked easily and relies on his equipment to have all the answers he need when it comes to fighting the unknown. Alexander does a solid job in this role where he sometimes looks out of place.
Support Cast: Judas Ghost really only has one other character and that is the ghost itself which pushed the story to the next level.
Director Review: Simon Pearce – Simon gives us a good horror that does keep you guessing without keeping you waiting around.
Fantasy: Judas Ghost brings us into the fantasy world of the ghost hunting idea being real and a normal thing rather than just guys searching for the nothing there.
Horror: Judas Ghost has good build up horror that gives us good scares when needing but not giving too much away to early.
Settings: Judas Ghost has the whole film in one room which is great for the setting as we see how trapped the group are.
Special Effects: Judas Ghost has good effects without having to rely on them for the scares.
Suggestion: Judas Ghost is one for the horror fans to watch and enjoy. (Horror Fans Watch)
Best Part: Gets straight to the point.
