Verdict: Suspense Filled Thriller
Story: In Fear starts with new couple Tom (De Caestecker) and Lucy (Englert) heading to a music festival but along the way Tom surprise Lucy with a night in a hotel. As the couple start looking for the hotel they find themselves going down country road after country road looking for the hotel but someone is messing with them which only Lucy seems to see to start with.
Nightfall comes and the two start to argue turning on each other as the games start to intensify fast becoming dangerous when they meet Max (Leech) another man who claims to be attacked by the same people after our couple. Can the three survive the nightmare they find themselves in?
In Fear is a film that keeps everything simple, it plays on the idea of getting lost in the woods down the country roads, not having a clue where to go for help and being followed by an unknown enemy. Everything is built up very well and having the young couple not truly knowing each other also plays into the fears. As there isn’t much else to chat about with the story I can’t help but praise the simplistic nature of it all.
Actor Review
Iain De Caestecker: Tom is taking his new girlfriend to a music festival but along the way he wants to spend the night in a hotel, while looking for the hotel they find themselves under attack and he has to show his true colours for Lucy to see as they try to survive. Iain does a good job in this role as we see him trying to be a different person to his true character to impress.
Alice Englert: Lucy is the new girlfriend of Tom who gets surprised with a hotel before a festival but as they get lost she gets to see how Tom would act under pressure while she just wants to survive the situation. Alice is the star of the show as she has to deal with not only surviving but learning about her traveling partner.
Allen Leech: Max is a stranger the couple bump into while trying to get to safety, Lucy wants to help, Tom is reluctant at first but is he really just another victim? Allen is good in this role as we don’t know what to make of his character.
Support Cast: In Fear doesn’t actually have a supporting cast 3 actors and that is it.
Director Review: Jeremy Lovering – Jeremy gives us a very suspenseful movie which keeps us guessing to what will happen next.
Horror: In Fear uses suspense for all of its horror and the fear of not knowing where safety is.
Mystery: In Fear does make you wonder why this is happening to the couple.
Thriller: In Fear keeps us guessing to what will happen from the first wrong turn.
Settings: In Fear uses the country roads for the setting showing how easy it can be to get lost going through them.
Special Effects: In Fear doesn’t really use special effects but does make everything come off looking realistic.
Suggestion: In Fear is one for the suspense horror fans to watch. (Suspense Horror Fans Watch)
Best Part: Setting is brilliant for everything to happen,
Worst Part: Tom isn’t the most likable character.
