Movie Reviews 101 Film of the Year 2014

By Newguy

Today I will be look at my pick for the best film of the year. Unlike yesterdays which was my favorite popcorn films.  Today will include most of the Oscar nominated films and I will be picking just five.

Mentions that could have been number one;

Foxcatcher

This was one film I knew very little about going into, I knew it focused on an Olympic wrestler and his trainer and that was it, not knowing the true story really did make this one of the most edge of the seat thrillers I saw last year.

Boyhood

When it comes to film making this will top anything anybody will see in a long time, the commitment to make this happen is unbelievable and it all pays off in one of the most interesting films of the year.

Birdman

This film got all the hype, the buzz of all of them out this year and it didn’t disappoint. It will make you think and with its dark comedy it will keep you wondering just what is really going on.

Nightcrawler

Out of the selection this is the most likely to appeal to the general film goer, Jake Gyllenhaal gives us a stunning performance as the man set ting his goals and breaking through them as he goes ultra-dark in search for the perfect footage.

Whiplash

This has to be my pick for the best film of 2014 because it is such a boring subject matter but it ends up being one of the most intense films I have ever seen. It has brilliant chemistry between the leads and a final scene that will take your breath away.
