Movie Review: Delivery Man

Posted on the 09 May 2014 by Sirmac2 @macthemovieguy

Starring: Vince Vaughn, Chris Pratt, Cobie Smulders, Bobby Moynihan, Britt Robertson

Directed By: Ken Scott

This film has been through the ringer. It’s a Vince Vaughn comedy. It didn’t make a lot at the box office. IMDB users didn’t really like it. Critics hated it. All this silly talk caused me to not want to see it in theatres. Not that this is the type of movie that demands that you watch it on the big screen, but I actually kinda liked the film. Granted, I am prone to enjoying Vince Vaughn movies. Except The Internship…

The real revelation though, and why more people should see Delivery Man, is Chris Pratt, who is excellent as Vaughn’s lawyer friend. He’s a star in the making, and hopefully after his leading role in Guardians Of The Galaxy, Pratt will get the opportunity to anchor a comedy worthy of his talents. He’s an everyman. He’s average. And he’s hilarious. Pratt has great timing. Also, Cobie Smulders should be given more film roles. She’s great as well.

I realize the premise is silly, and its a remake, but I enjoyed the film. I think Vince Vaughn gets saddled with a lot of crap sometimes, like Four Christmases and Couples Retreat, but this movie is a little more perfectly suited for Vince Vaughn’s sarcastic everyman that he portrays in movies. And instead of a lifeless costar, he got Chris Pratt. So there’s a huge win.

FINAL GRADE: B
