Mouth Ulcers

Mouth UlcersMouth ulcers are also known as canker sores that make the painful areas in the gums & mouth. These ulcers are small & painful lesions that are present in the mouth & base of gums. According to Ayurveda, if your abdomen is disturbed it creates Ama (undigested food) in the body. This condition increases Pitta dosha that is responsible for burning sensation, bad breath, redness, soreness, & cracked ulcers.

If mouth ulcers are ignored & not treated on time then it can ultimately cause mouth cancer. The other causes for the development of mouth ulcers are excessive smoking, consumption of high acidic fruits, spices like red chilies, green chilies, biting your tongue inside the cheeks, anxiety, stress, genetic factors, anxiety, hormonal changes, taking medications such as pain killers & beta-blockers. Use some simple home remedies for managing your mouth ulcers at home that are given below:

1. Peppermint

Peppermint herb is good for getting relief from mouth ulcers naturally. This herb reduces pain, swelling, redness, & burning sensation. It provides cooling, digestive, & carminative effect in the mouth.

How to use

  1. Chew fresh leaves of peppermint early in the morning on an empty stomach.
  2. Take five to six leaves of peppermint & boil in two cups of water until remains half cup. Strain the mixture, let it cool down, & drink this herbal decoction.

2. Aloe vera

Aloe vera herb shows anti-inflammatory, analgesic, & antioxidant properties. These properties reduce inflammation, pain, & swelling in mouth ulcer patients.

How to use:

  1. Take 20 ml of fresh Aloe vera juice with an equal amount of water early in the morning on an empty stomach.
  2. You can also apply the fresh pulp of Aloe vera fruit on the affected area of the mouth ulcers.

3. Clove

Clove herb shows antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, anti-bacterial properties that are good for mouth ulcer patients. The eugenol content in it deals with the oral problems naturally & effectively.

How to use:

  1. Take few cloves & boil it in two cups of water. Let this water cool down & gargle your mouth with the decoction.
  2. Put a few drops of clove oil on a cotton swab. Apply this over the affected area of mouth ulcers once or twice daily. This is the best home remedy for mouth ulcers patients.

4. Coconut

Coconut is a herb that shows anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, analgesic, antioxidant, digestive, & carminative properties. These properties deal with the mouth ulcers naturally, reduces pain, & swelling.

How to use

  1. Drink green coconut water once daily for improving your digestion. If your digestion is normal than automatically you will see good results in a month.
  2. Take a few drops of organic coconut oil on a cotton swab. Apply this over the affected area of mouth ulcers for 20 minutes. After that rinse your mouth with normal water.

5. Fennel

Fennel herb shows antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, carminative, & digestive stimulant properties. These properties will work naturally & effectively on mouth ulcers. The pain, swelling, redness, & mouth sores are treated naturally with the regular use of this herb.

How to use

  1. Chew a teaspoonful of fennel seeds daily after meals for getting relief from mouth ulcers.
  2. Take a teaspoonful of fennel seeds in two cups of water. Boil this mixture until the remaining half cup. Strain the mixture, let it cool down, & drink this herbal decoction once or twice daily.

6. Licorice

Licorice is also known as “Mulethi” that provides carminative, cooling, & digestive effects on the body. This herb reduces mouth ulcers naturally. It provides a good effect on the stomach, removes toxins from the body, reduces pain, & swelling.

How to use

  1. Chew the stick of licorice so that you can intake its juice. This juice reduces mouth ulcers naturally.
  2. Take a stick of licorice & boil it in two cups of water until the remaining half cup. Strain the mixture, let it cool down, & drink this herbal decoction. You can also gargle your mouth with this decoction.

7. Triphala Powder

Triphala powder is prepared from the extract of three herbs Amla, Haritaki, & Bibhitaki. All the ingredients are taken in equal quantity & store it in a container. This is considered as the best home remedies for mouth ulcers.

How to use

  1. Take a teaspoonful of Triphala powder with a glass of lukewarm water at bedtime. This home remedy will provide a good effect on the stomach. If your stomach is clear than your mouth ulcers will automatically reduce.
  2. Prepare a herbal decoction of Triphala powder & gargle your mouth with it. Do perform this twice daily for getting quick & effective results from mouth ulcers.
