Who is the guest star in my blog post today? None other than my Mummy! Yep, this is my Mummy, (despite her being so tiny and looking nothing like me) and she is finally appearing on my blog after Next set me a challenge to style myself and my Mum for Mother's Day.
What I thought would be a walk in the park was actually rather tricky. My mom is super petite so I've chosen some items I believe would really suit her small frame, but we went back and forth a few times until we were both happy... and something actually fitted her! Normally she can be found in heels so that was a must, but she likes comfort too which is why we have wedges. I wanted to shake up her wardrobe a bit with these items because my Mum loves a pencil dress, often teamed with a cropped jacket, hair up and some glam looking necklace... Don't get me wrong I love that but this was the time to try something a little different...

These trousers my Mum is wearing were actually on my hit list for me, but because I wanted to do something a bit different, my Mum has got them. She could wear flats quite easily with these but as I say she does like her height so sparkly wedges it is. The 3/4 length jumper top was something I know she could dress up or down, and finally for some extra style and comfort we have a waterfall wrap coat with a ladies best friend - an oversized leather handbag for days out shopping!

As for me I spent a good day going back and forth with looks. I've set myself of style goals this year to wear things I love but don't actually do. That all being said I spotted these shoes at a Next press day and had an instant attraction. I decided I had to have some sort of floral trousers as the trousers were my statement piece and these are beautiful with a splash of cheeky coral thrown into this cigarette cut. I teamed it with a classic high neck sleeveless ribbed top but added it with my double tier gold necklace. For the chilly evenings particularly our up and coming Mother daughter movie marathon, I went for a snuggly classic cream cable knit jumper.
The thing about Mother's Day in our house is that we never really go out anywhere - we aren't the high tea goers, or the lavish meals out, we actually just congregate around the parentals! My entire family live such hectic lives that sometimes being at home and simply socialising just as 'us' is the best thing. All of us together, being ourselves with dogs and babies we can just relax and I know it's something my Mum loves.
Obviously as you can see Olly wanted to be involved with absolutely everything we were creating for this post! So I need to give my four legged best bud a shout out!
My Mum doesn't dress to the stereotype of her age, she is in her 60's but I really don't think she looks it. She has the perfect balance without looking too old or too young... she never stops either and is always active and on the go...something I have most certainly inherited! My only bug bear is her being so tiny! Trying to find items to fit was a nightmare, but we used the Next Petite collection to get her a new look.
So there you have it this is Mama Bean and I'd be first to tell her if she wasn't stylish, but she really and truly is fashionable. I love her new look - as does she! What do you think? What would you dress your Mum in?
