Standing by the Kiunga – Tabubil Road (the road connecting Kiunga to the mining site); I can’t help but notice this young mother and her child as they emerged from the nearby bush, crossed the street, passed by where I was standing, then proceeded to the village behind me. I can sense that the child was terrorized by my presence or the camera I was holding but I decided not to approach them as I might scare him more.
