After having fun with the Dolphins in the Tai O fishing village which is also called venice of the orient I reached Ngong Ping an another sleepy village and started waiting for the slow boat back to Hongkong Victoria Harbour. As I watched I saw a few people waiting near the boat quarry.I asked a person who was sitting next to me about them.
He told me that those people are working in the offshore platforms in the sea and waiting for their boat to come and take them to their work spot.I also saw a big tug boat carrying a big crane coming near to the boat bay and people started offloading the crane to the land .
There were many youngsters cycling along the quay and a couple having dinner in the nearby eatery. But there was stillness every were. After being in the mainland for more than a week this silence was killing me.I asked the gentlemen about this silence and he said that this island is a very expensive one and only very reach people can afford to stay in this village apart from locals.
He is a British Engineer who had worked in the Hongkong Government in designing the MTR and had purchased a piece of land longtime back and hence could afford.Seeing my nagging he left with smile when his wife joined him with a dog.
And I went to the Ferry terminal. There were not many in taking the slow star ferry .So it was less crowded.I could choose the seat and move from one side to another to have a good glimpse of the skyline.
Not many boats were plying in the sea at that late hour.
The Hongkong Harbour dazzles with neon lights at night. But the Symphony of Lights show mesmerises on and all and it is a spectacular event that lasts for less than half an hour draws many Tourists from the world.
This spectacular laser beam show which is illuminated on the 33 skyscraper buildings along the promenade on both sides of the Harbour with a commentary on the background makes everyone spell bound and longs for their return again in ones life time.
In the morning I took the train to cross the sea to reach the Golden Buddha in Lantau Island but in the night I am traveling in the slow ferry seeing the cloudy mountains and rocky islands landscapes changing in shape and colours which reminds of Hongkongs cultural heritage transforming to the great financial capital of the world.Hongkong with its never ending attractions attracts the next door Chinese in swarms on weekends and one will fight for their breath in the weekends in any transport be it Tram,Bus,Train or ferry.
