I continued working on this new abstract floral painting, looking for a way to integrate the orange and red flowers into a more unified whole. One thing that helped was using the red from the red flowers in the center of the orange flowers, and vice versa. I also painted berry-like balls in the background in red.
To finish the background, I added a dark green for the vine and leaf-like shapes. In the flower petals themselves, I added more highlights and variations to add interest.
I like this painting much better now, but don't feel the foreground is quite compatible with the background. I'll let it sit and see how I feel in a few days.
