More Than 11 Million Cases of COVID-19 Reported Worldwide

(Paris) Over 11 103 630 COVID infection case – 17 were officially diagnosed in 195 countries and territories since the start of the epidemic, of which at least 5 715 83 are today considered cured, according to an assessment established by AFP from official sources on Saturday at 7 a.m.

The pandemic of the new coronavirus has made at least 526 663 dead worldwide since the WHO China office reported the appearance of illness at the end of December.

This number of diagnosed cases, however, only reflects a fraction of the actual number of infections. Some countries only test severe cases, others use testing as a priority for tracing, and many poor countries have limited screening capacity.

The United States, which recorded its first death linked to the coronavirus in early February, is the most affected country in terms of number of deaths and cases, with 124 437 death for 2 795 163 case. At least 790 404 people have been declared cured.

After the United States, the most affected countries are Brazil with 63 174 dead for 1 539 081 case, the United Kingdom with 42 131 dead (2842. 76 case ), Italy with 34 833 dead ( 241 184), and France with 29 893 dead (203 367 case).

China (excluding the territories of Hong Kong and Macao) has officially counted a total of 83 545 cases (3 new between Friday and Saturday), including 4634 death (0 new), and 76 509 healings.

Europe totaled Saturday at 7 a.m. 198 878 death for 2 706 195 case, the United States and Canada 138 147 death (2 900 189 case) , Latin America and the Caribbean 124 327 death (2 804 894 case), Asia 36 998 death (1 431 419 case), the Middle East 11 289 death (801 681 case), Africa 10 891 death (449 376 case), and Oceania 133 death (9882 case).

This assessment was carried out using data collected by AFP offices from the competent national authorities and information from the World Health Organization (WHO).
