Independent Edinburgh micro brewer Barney’s Beer have snagged a new distributer and have plans for a busy 2016.
Based in Summerhall, Edinburgh, Barney’s Beer is to be distributed by Innis & Gunn. Innis & Gunn recently bought The Inveralmond Brewery.
Barney said: “This is a exciting step for us, our beer is available at some of the best restaurants and pubs across the city, and we’re looking forward to working with Innis and Gunn to see where we can take our beer next…”
Starting with the Summerhall Beer FestivALE the weekend of May 20 – 21st Barney’s Beer will be working on specials for the event including a Sour Beer and re-working of Lapsang Smoked Porter.
This years specials for Barney’s Beer include:-
May 2016 – Now known as Tundra IPA, a further trial brew in collaboration with The Hutton Institute & Abertay Uni – replacing some of the barley with more sustainable faba beans to produce a more enviro friendly beer.
May 2016 – as yet unnamed IPA produced specially for the Hidden Door Festival, Edinburgh.
Autumn 2016 – Double Volcano IPA – a special launched at the Summerhall Beer Festival, double the hops and higher ABV.
October 2016 – Alt-beer – before the Germans mastered the art of lager brewing they also made ale. This is a Barney’s Ale made with German malt, hops and ale yeast.
Winter 2016 (first produced January 2016) – Bastard Amber – a special amber beer, named for lighting designers and theater techs after a specific color gel wash for theatre, called ‘bastard amber.’
Each of the specials were produced in a limited batch and sold out completely on its first run. As each beer is back in stock the beer will be available in bottle and limited keg/cask.
