It just keeps getting worse for Donald Trump. He wants the public to believe that he's a popular president, but nothing could be farther from the truth.
The Gallup Poll has been polling Americans on presidential job approval ratings in mid-February of their first terms since 1953. Every president prior to Donald Trump, regardless of political party, has had a majority job approval. The average job approval rating was 61%.
Donald Trump is the ONLY president since 1953 (64 years) that does NOT have majority job approval. His job approval is only 40% -- 21 points below the average.
That means Trump is the most unpopular president in more than a half century -- and if Gallup had been polling prior to 1953, it would probably make Trump the most unpopular for a much longer period than that.
The latest Gallup Poll was done between February 13th and 15th of a random national sample of 1,527 adults, with a 3 point margin of error.
