Montgomery Square, Canary Wharf, London – Public Realm

By Davis Landscape Architecture @DavisLandArch

Montgomery Square is located within the Canary Wharf development master planned by SOM. It is flanked by two office blocks on opposite sides, Jubilee Park to its east and South Dock to its west. Within the square one of the Canary Wharf Underground Station exit’s is accommodated.

The square is essentially a flat space, using paving pattern and texture to create interest.Vertical elements within the space are provided by light columns and trees. As this square is uncluttered and open in nature it lends itself to being a flexible, programmable space with events regularly taking place here.

Along the South dock edge an avenue of trees have been planted in self binding gravel, presumably in an attempt to attenuate winds generated by the high buildings and the dockland location.
