Bears watch out. The residents of Takikawa, Japan have turned to a robotic wolf to deter bears that are urged to roam their city in central Hokkaido. Apparently, bears entering the site are a regular occurrence as the creatures search for food in residential trash cans.
Usually the city hires hunters to catch bears and remove them from city limits, but this time around, residents got more creative with a solution to scare bears away.
The mechanical robot, nicknamed Monster Wolf, was made from machine parts from the Hokkaido-based manufacturing company Ohta Seiki. According to SoraNews24, Monster Wolf is equipped with infrared sensors that can detect when a bear or other animal world is nearby.
