A group of officers from the Peradeniya Police arrested two monks who were excavating behind the temple they were staying looking for buried treasure.
The two monks are from Gallenwana Senasuma Viharaya in Gannoruwa. Both these monks have dug up the treasure by breaking a rock at the back of the monastery where they were staying.
According to the information received by the Peradeniya Police, the police went there and arrested both of them along with the equipment used for excavation.
