You gotta choose
Hate to say ‘I told you so’ but… A survey of 1700 couples found that the partnerships where both individuals were highly materialistic were A) richer and B) unhappier. I would understand perfectly if poor yet materialistic couples took their financial frustrations out on each other but the fact that wealth doesn’t defang the vital-gnawing beast of materialism is worth noting. Jesus warned his disciples, Croesus found out the hard way, the Beatles wrote a song about it, now it’s in a scientific journal. How much more evidence do people need that you have to chose whether you love money more, or people?
