Modern and Young: A Furniture-Filled Living Room in Los Feliz

By Dwell @dwell
“We literally had no furniture so we were starting from scratch,” says actor Adam Campbell of the recently renovated Los Feliz abode he shares with wife and fellow actress Jayma Mays from our Furniture Issue. “We thought: Let’s give it a go ourselves, and if it looks disastrous then we’ll think about using an interior designer.” The young couple's living room is the best reflection of their burgeoning furniture collecting skills—a cool mix of high and low: vintage and contemporary furniture, design-shop purchases, and internet finds fill the space, such as a mid-century Danish sofa, square blocked rug by Scholten & Baijings for Hay, and a long wooden table. To the right, a Plugged Pendant lamp from Muuto hangs above a white legged Pure dining table from CB2, while tubular steel side chairs from Danish Modern L.A. and Verner Panton chairs found on, you guessed it, Craigslist, graciously await a fluttering of guests. As Mays says, “I feel that our furniture reflects the marriage of both old and new and hopefully does so with a bit of levity and color." Photo Photo
