The report has been compiled based upon the data collected from more than 100 million page views on 91mobiles website in the first half of year 2014.

As per the report, there are as many as 83 different mobile phone brands present in India at present. A major number of these are Indian brands capturing about 80 percent of the market share in the first half of 2014. Out of these, 64 percent of devices belonged to entry-level segment.

As for international brands, only 27 international brands are present in India at the present.

So, want to know which brand or device topped the popularity chart in India in the first half of 2014? Well, as per the report by 91mobiles.com, Samsung is still ruling in super-Premium, High End and Mid-Range Segment. Nokia is still going strong, topping especially in the Budget segment. New entrants like Motorola are making their mark. Micromax is proving it’s popularity, although a dip in the ranking has been noticed. In short, the top rankers are Samsung, Nokia, Micromax, Sony, HTC, Motorola

The most popular smartphones launched in H1 of 2014 are Nokia XL, Samsung Galaxy S5, Sony Xperia Z2, Samsung Galaxy Grand 2, Motorola Moto G and Motorola Moto E. Nokia XL and Moto G and Moto E were the most popular device in budget category. Samsung Galaxy Grand 2, HTC Desire 816 and Moto X were most popular in mid-range category of smartphones. The High-end segment saw surprising results with Gionee Elife E7, Lenovo Vibe Z and Sony Xperia Z1 Compact topping the chart. The results of Super-Premium segment are more predictable, the winners being Samsung Galaxy S5, Sony Xperia Z2 and HTC One.

The H1 of 2014 also saw the arrival of budget performers with brands like Motorola bringing out devices like Moto E that provide good performance at budget price. Motorola also kick-started the trend of making devices available exclusively through online sales.

There’s also a rising trend of wearable smart devices with more and more brands bringing out Smart Watches.
