MLB Hall Of Fame Catcher, Gary Carter, Died Today; He Was 57 Years Old

Gary Carter–former MLB star catcher–died today at the age of 57 due to brain tumor complications. This is a sad day in the MLB’s history.

Some notes on Carter:

  • Won World Series Title with the New York Mets in 1986
  • Had No. 8 Jersey of his retired in 2003 by the Montreal Expos
  • 19-year-career helped aid him a spot in the MLB’s Hall of Fame in 2003 as well

Gary’s daughter, Kimmy Bloemers, had this to say on their family’s website:

“I am deeply saddened to tell you all that my precious dad went to be with Jesus today at 4:10 pm. This is the most difficult thing I have ever had to write in my entire life but I wanted you all to know. He is in heaven and has reunited with his mom and dad. I believe with all my heart that dad had a STANDING OVATION as he walked through the gates of heaven to be with Jesus.”

More coming later on this developing story.
