Miss You Already (2015) Review

A friendship is pushed to the limits when illness must be dealt with . . .

Jess and Milly have been best friends for pretty much ever and have been through everything together. First everything. Milly ended up settling down with Kit and having two children. Jess and Jago have been trying to have a baby for years and it was not looking very likely that they would have that dream come true. Milly has cancer and everything is going to change with what she has to go through.

I will admit that I had no idea at all that this was a British film but as it starts with some of the humor and lines you quickly pick that up. Sometimes or a lot of the time the jokes were at inappropriate times but this lightened the mood and I think you can relate to that and how you would prefer things to be in that situation.

The main problem I had with this film was that Milly was not likeable at all and the way she treated Jess and Kit was pretty horrible at times. I mean I am sure this was the same before the diagnoses but after that she seemed unbearable no matter what they tried to do for her in terms of support.

I guess it does make you think about how you would react and behave if this happened to either yourself or your friend. How would you act and cope? Although I came to the conclusion that it is something that you will not actually be able to answer due to having no idea how you would react.

I probably picked massively the wrong time to go and see this which probably influenced my thoughts on the film a little bit. Well I guess actually liking the characters would have always been that way. I just think they could have made Milly more likeable, but I guess she does have a small redemption in the end?

Although a good thing that it contained more laughter than tears, showing that you will always need a friend no matter what you are currently going through in life. That sometimes laughter is the best form of medicine to help you get through something very serious.

Is it how all friendships work the way that Jess and Milly get on with each other, one of them being the more dominant and the other just doing everything they want? I have to admit that I don’t really find it to be that to be the case with my friends.
