Lately I have noticed an article popping up in Facebook timeline titled ’8 Beers That You Should Stop Drinking Immediately.’ This article made the rounds earlier this year and last year as another article with a similar title.
Let me go on the record here as saying that while I am not a proponent of drinking the mass-produced, fizzy yellow beers on the list, I am also not a fan of pseudo-science. If you are going to call out the big guys, use real science, list your sources, and put your name — your REAL NAME — on the article.
That said, I ask my friends and followers to stop spreading the above mentioned article as it is almost wholly bunk.
Follow the link below to an article, written by historian and author Maureen Ogle. Ogle wrote an important and riveting book titles Ambitious Brew: The Story of American Beer. I highly recommend you read it and learn how the big boys started. Ogle took the time to engage with some of craft beer’s rock star brewers to get real answers to the hokam being spread.
