Minnesota Safe? Minneapolis is Getting Safer, but Still Deadly for Some Victims of Gun Violence.

Minneapolis Police say a man with an apparent gunshot wound was found dead inside of a home on the 1000 block of Irving Avenue North early Wednesday morning.
Police say they were sent to the Irving Avenue North home around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday on a medical related call.
When officers arrived on scene, they found the adult man who had apparently suffered the gunshot wound.
Investigators say there are no suspects in custody.
The department's Homicide Unit is now asking for your help.  If you have any information, you're asked to call Crime Stoppers: 1-800-692-TIPS (8477).
An identity and exact cause of death is expected to be released at a later date.
Minneapolis Homicide Numbers:
  • Wednesday morning's homicide is 2nd of the year in the city's 4th precinct.
  • It is the 10th in Minneapolis thus far in 2011.
At this time last year:
  • There were 17 homicides in Minneapolis
According to Minneapolis Police crime statistics, homicides are down 41 percent thus far in 2011.
