Milo’s First Christmas, some prep!

A mini guide to helping your pet stay safe over Christmas... & obligatory Milo's First Christmas portraits.
Now that I’m somewhat over my jet lag, I’m in a position to start attempting to feel festive. We finally put our Christmas tree up last night and, coupled with a Brussels sprout fettuccine dinner, I’m beginning to feel a little more Christmas Elf Mish once more. Christmas 2016 also marks Milo’s very first Christmas! And you must have already known that as that girl who takes Christmas and her puppy’s happiness very seriously, we have grand plans for his first festive season.

Milo is one of the most alert, in-tune, little pooches that I know - whilst I was ill earlier this week (hence the stupidly late putting-up-of-Christmas-tree!) he laid on my stomach and pressed his paws on my head, he sits patiently by the living room door at 6pm waiting for my brother to return home, he even Skypes us when we’re away! … I’m not kidding, we Skype Milo (via my brother) from Budapest over the summer!
With Christmas being one of the most busy times of the year, there are so many little factors to consider when it comes to keeping your pets safe at Christmas. We’re hosting Christmas at ours this year and beginning new traditions as we used to spend Christmas at Granny Daisy’s. New faces, new scents, tables brimming with food, the temptation of presents under the tree… There are so many things to think about! I’m working with the RSPCA to share this handy post with some pretty fun facts… plus I couldn’t resist an opportunity to share some seriously cute photos of my number one man ;) For example, a quarter of pets have their own advent calendar - even I don’t have one this year! - and 10% of pets will be ‘watching’ the Queen’s speech at 3pm.

To keep Milo safe and happy this Christmas, we’ve added a throw over his crate (he very rarely goes in there now that he’s toilet trained but it’s a nice cosy spot for him to rest in), invested in these Pooch & Mutt Christmas dinner dog treats (totally recommend; he LOVES them) and we’re continuing to socialise him both at home and on walks where he can interact with other dogs and humans so he’ll be less anxious when the house is busier on Christmas Day.
