Help Give Shoes advocacy encourages marathoners to run for a noble cause
Manila, Philippines – Now on its 37th year of staging, the National MILO Marathon is geared towards providing an athletic platform for elite and aspiring runners that embodies Filipino camaraderie. The country’s most prestigious leg race calls on local athletes to lace up once again and join in raising 10,000 more pairs of shoes for public school children across the country through the Help Give Shoes Advocacy. Since 2010, MILO has delivered 24,200 pairs to young champions and is poised to hit the 34,200 mark at the end of the season.
In an effort to encourage the youth to engage in sports, MILO collaborated with the Department of Education to select five public schools per provincial area and ten per Manila race that will receive 100 brand new pairs of rubber shoes. The Help Give Shoes Advocacy demonstrates MILO’s strengthened commitment to education and creating a holistic athletic environment for the growth of the Philippine sports community.
This year’s campaign will commence on June 30 as the National MILO Marathon Puerto Princesa qualifiers gets underway.
