Plot: Thomas Reagan (Byrne) an advisor for a crime boss in prohibition era has to play peacemaker between two rival gangs only led by Johnny Casper (Polito) the other by Leo (Finney) who both want control of the city. With a pair of siblings just waiting to take over the town Verna (Harden), Bernie (Turturro) add to the mix to create a story about who will finally take over.
Verdict: A crime thriller that has more twists and turns than you could imagine
Story: With all the twists and turns this film will leave you guessing from start to finish. Thomas character seems calm and collective with every move that makes it look like he is in complete control. When it comes to gangster films I am not always the biggest fan but this one kept me interested with its story. (9/10)
Actor Review: Gabriel Byrne – Thomas the man with a plan to solve the problems being created with two egos clashing. Great performance in the calm role that controls everything that happens. (9/10)
Actor Review: Marcia Gay Harden – Verne the lady of Thomas and Leo’s affection. Good performance but every under used character. (7/10)
Actor Review: John Turturro – Bernie a guy who wants power but is nowhere near the top but plans to sneak his way to the top. Great performance showing a full range of emotions throughout. (8/10)
Actor Review: Albert Finney – Leo the king of the city at the start but with a new power rising he has to fight to keep his throne. Good performance showing how he became the leader of the town. (9/10)
Actor Review: Jon Polito – Johnny trying to take over the city by not playing by the rules. Great performance as guy you are meant to dislike gaining power. (8/10)

Crime: Great crime story told with plenty of turns. (9/10)
Thriller: You just don’t know what will happen next. (9/10)
Believability: The gangster stories have some truth but just how much is unknown. (4/10)
Chances of Tears: No (0/10)
Settings: Great setting creating a realistic time setting for the film. (9/10)
Suggestion: I think all gangster fans will like this but otherwise it is one only to try because it might not be you’re cup of tea. (Try It)
Best Part: The cops bust a scene and cause more damage than they need too.
