July 2008

This enormous tail rotor (with wooden blades) belongs to the Mi-6.  The Mi-6 was first flown in September 1957 and it was, at the time, both the largest and fastest helicopter in the world with over 900 produced.  Certification of the type was cancelled in 2002 with many components reaching the end of their service life. Sony DSC-W90, this is a re-edit processed with Aperture.
