July 2010

A privately owned MiG-21 races airborne for a flight demonstration at the 2010 Oshkosh AirVenture airshow.  Some 50 countries over four continents have flown the MiG-21, considered the most-produced supersonic jet aircraft in aviation history. First flown in 1955, the MiG-21 was the first Soviet plane to reach Mach 2 and was in production from 1959 to 1985.  This Mongol B is a two-seat training version of the MiG-21MF, a modernized export version of the MiG-21SM, and still wears its original Polish Air Force colors after being exported to the U.S. in 1999.  Nikon D70s w/18-200mm.
