More from my visit to the Oakland Aviation Museum. First flown in 1947, the MiG-15 was one of the first successful jet fighters to incorporate swept wings to achieve high transonic speeds. The MiG-15 is believed to have been one of the most produced jet aircraft ever with 12,000-18,000 manufactured (including license built models). The MiG-15bis (“second”) was an improved variant that entered service in early 1950. The MiG-15 was powered by a Soviet license-built Rolls-Royce Nene engine that the British inexplicably provided all the technical information for, providing a huge technological leap. This particular aircraft was acquired by Jim Wickersham in 1989 and flown in airshows for many years. Fuji X-E2s w/18-55mm.
