Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie (1995) Review

The Power Rangers are about to face their toughest villain yet in Ivan Ooze when he is uncovered by accident on a construction site in Angel Grove.

May seem like a very strange film to be watching and reviewing but I thought I would relive my childhood and watch one of my favorite films from being a kid. So I was 8 years old when this came out and probably a strange thing for a girl to totally love but I was the ultimate tom boy as a kid, but I still wanted to be the pink ranger, we had the proper water guns and everything used to play Power Rangers for hours on end in the street. I always wanted to be a Power Ranger!

Anyway it was quite strange watching the film again as I actually remembered every single little thing about it. Each scene and a lot of the dialog as well, I guess I wore out my VHS of this one! I still think it will be a lot of fun for kids to watch now, although roller blades aren’t as big as they were back in the 90s. Hey I would still do that now if it didn’t look very strange. Sky diving to open the film as well, lets face it the power rangers were very cool teenagers.

Obviously the film is by no means a brilliant film at all, but you can see the slight changes for the big screen from the original TV series. But I do believe one of the main things about the film was to introduce the new Zords and the journey the rangers had to go on to get the power. After Ivan Ooze had nearly killed Zordon.

It really does scream 90s and as a kid I really did love everything about this film, mainly to see the heroes for a longer feature than an episode on TV. It is very flawed and I can now see that it didn’t really have a massive story line which it had to do for a big screen outing. It was quite amusing to go back and watch something like this that I loved though, it did bring back some happy childhood memories. I wouldn’t recommend anyone to watch this for the first time as an adult now if you weren’t a fan of the original TV series as I don’t think it will have much effect at all.

Nostalgia!
