ONE OF the UK’s best-loved detective dramas and the longest-running – Midsomer Murders is back for its 23rd series. Following its run on ITV, Midsomer Murders The Complete Series Twenty-Three is set for its DVD release on 11 November 2024 courtesy of Acorn Media International.
The new series of this true national treasure features four brand-new cases for the inimitable DCI John Barnaby (Neil Dudgeon – Life Of Riley, Silent Witness) and his trusty sidekick DS Jamie Winter (Nick Hendrix – The Crown, Black Mirror) to tackle.
The tenacious two return for more curious crime-solving in the idyllic and picturesque setting of Midsomer, where beneath the tranquil exterior of country life, a sinister propensity for killing lurks. This time, the detectives must contend with yet more cunning criminals as they find themselves thrust into new weird and wonderful worlds, from doomsday prepping and police retirement villages to artisan bakeries and drag shows.
This series sees our favorite regulars reprise their roles, including Annette Badland (Ted Lasso, D.I. Ray, Bergerac) as the inimitable pathologist Dr. Fleur Perkins, Nick Hendrix (Marcella, Legend, The Crown) as DS Jamie Winter, Fiona Dolman (The Bill, The Royal Today) as DCI Barnaby’s wife Sarah, Isabel Shaw as their daughter Betty and not forgetting Paddy the dog.
As wellas returning favourites, Series 23 also welcomes a roster of impressive guest stars, including Sonita Henry (The Chelsea Detective, Deadpool & Wolverine), Martin Trenaman (Queens of Mystery, The Inbetweeners Movie) Paul Chahidi (This Country, Wicked Little Letters), Tom Conti (Oppenheimer, Doc Martin) Nina Wadia (EastEnders, Bend it Like Beckham), Jo Martin (Doctor Who, Fleabag) and many more.
Airing in more than 220 territories worldwide, Midsomer Murders has long been a hugely popular fixture on our screens since its premiere in 1997. With its lovable characters, famous guest stars, charming scenery and plenty of puzzling murders, now is the perfect time to dive back into this iconic British series.
During its record-breaking run, the series has seen more than 400 dastardly murders and here’s another chance to see our favorite detectives back on form with more cases to crack. If you’re planning a visit to this tranquil county, beware… therearemany Midsomer Murders.
