Jordan was joined by Atty. Bryan Stevenson. The movie is based on Stevenson's 2014 memoir of the same name that follows his attempt to exonerate Walter McMillian, a black man awaiting execution on Alabama's death row after he was falsely convicted of murdering white Monroeville teenager Ronda Morrison.

In the film, Stevenson, who is played by Michael B. Jordan, is a Harvard grad, who attempts to explain to his mother why he wanted to move to Alabama - Alabama has a dirty past when it comes to it's treatment of African Americans, then your Harvard grad Black son tells you he wants to move there? So, you know his mother was upset right?

What he didn't expect to see was men his age, who listened to the same type of music, etc.. on death row, but he did.

Jordan, a Newark, New Jersey native can relate to that story.

"I'm from Newark, New Jersey. I've had a lot of friends locked up, murdered, who are not around anymore."
