The boys and I had the best day yesterday, we went to the 2017 Miami Marlins FanFest!!! I love baseball, as much as football, and I get really really excited when the Marlins Fan Fest comes around every February. It is my time to put on my fan gear and just spend the day at the ballpark with fellow Marlins fans AND the players!!! This year I took the two boys with me and we celebrated my love for baseball! If you follow me on IG (@secondchancesgirl) then you have probably seen some of these....
First thing we did when we got to the ballpark was to sign the Fernandez wall. If you follow baseball at all, then you know that the Marlins lost their star pitcher, Jose Fernandez, in a fatal boating accident last season. It was devastating to us all and the boys and I added our names and loving messages to the wall.
Then it was time to play. First up some t-ball batting practice. Now, I am ashamed to say this but my boys have never played baseball. Shocking, I know but they really haven't asked. I was thrilled when they wanted to at least attempt to hit the ball.
Time to meet some of the new pitchers, Drew Steckenrider and Kyle Barraclough. These guys were so sweet to the boys signing autographs and posing for pictures. They even gave the boys some tips and helped them get some pitches in.
We had to stop and pose with our two World Series Championship trophies. The Miami Marlins are the youngest team in baseball with the most championships. Watch out 2018, we are coming for you!
There was so much excitement at the ballpark, especially since Miami will be hosting the 2017 All-Star Game this summer. I am hoping to get tickets as is most of Miami!! LOL! Next up was more player autographs.
Lines were long but moving quickly. As we moved from line to line, I noticed an extra long line and when I went to the front to check out the commotion, I realized the line was for a meet and greet with Christian Yelich. I quickly ran to the end of the line. To my surprise, after about a 35-40 minute wait, I got to meet my favorite player, GianCarlo Stanton!!! I knew they switched put players at the meet and greet but never in my wildest dreams did I think I would get a chance to take a picture with Stanton!!
After my excitement with Stanton, the boys were equally excited to take pictures with the costumed characters, seriously??? We were just taking a picture with Stanton. I will never understand children!
Along with autographs and pictures, you could play games like Jenga and dominoes with players, meet alumni like Livan Hernandez and even have players like Wei Chen pitch to your kids!! Watch my boys in action!
We are ready and waiting for baseball season to start! Nothing says summer like baseball!!
