Okay, so a lot of brands have claimed to have made a “Bezel-less phone” or a “True Bezel-less phone”. However, only a few of them are actually are Bezel-less and just one or two of them have actually landed in the mainstream. Sharp Aquos Crystal was one and Sharp Corner R is another. While the Corner R may not hit the market, Mi Mix definitely intends to.

The latest smartphone from Xiaomi looks straight out of a sci-fi movie and boasts a whopping 91.3 percent screen-to-body ratio. In our previous article, we did talk about a bezel-less phone being developed by Xiaomi, but even we are surprised with highest screen-to-body ratio we’ve ever seen. This phone definitely tells you that so much innovation can be done with the very familiar form factor.

Thanks to its bezel-less display with curved corners, the phone looks really similar to any 5.5-inches smartphone.  The display comes with a resolution of 2040×1080 and houses on-screen navigation buttons, a first for Xiaomi.

With such design, it is quite obvious that the sensors on the phone would need to be re-adjusted or changed altogether. The proximity sensor has been replaced by ultrasound, the earpiece has been replaced with a piezoelectric speaker that uses the metal frame to generate sound, and the front-facing camera is relocated to the bottom.

A 4400mAh battery will power the phone. It also houses 16 megapixels with phase-detect autofocus and NFC and a rear fingerprint reader is present on both versions.

For all the people who’ve been complaining that Xiaomi copies Apple and Samsung’ design, the Mi Mix is a marvel which is truly original, eye-catching yet practical. Unfortunately, the phone will not be released in international markets and is said to launch on November 4th in China.
